Papier
By Glenda Grande

Paper planes roam the sky as origami flowers litter the garden beds in a world of paper. The simple pleasures that we slowly forget and take for granted still hold their magic in this place – like a child’s mind filled with imagination, always seeing more than what meets the naked eye.

Sitting upon the paper-shredded like grass, slightly rough and dry to the touch, a young boy sits and folds himself a little boat from his candy wrapper. He does so with a smile on his face, only learning how to create the little water-floater the previous day from his beloved grandfather. It was the way boys used to play in his day, he said to the young child, for back then there were no fancy electronic toys to occupy their time.

After completing the final touches, the boy jumped up and rushed to the nearby fountain to test out his creation. Slowly, he gently placed the paper boat onto the water and kneeled beside the fountain, watching it float as he created an adventure inside his mind.

To be a pirate or an explorer – ideas which sparkled like treasure in his heart filled him with a curious wonder. What if we could, like paper, manipulate the folds of events in our life to create something? From his little candy wrapper, he was able to create a boat, but he started to think about the other possible shapes he could make.

As we grow older, sometimes we forget and neglect that child inside of us, pushing aside the curious wonder which once filled our hearts as each day brought upon a new adventure. We become so concerned and engrossed in the idea of getting by that we overlook the simple, happy pleasures in life.

Aren’t we all, more or less, like a child with a piece of paper? We hold our lives in our hands but often don’t realize we have the power. That paper, much like our life, can be turned into anything we desire – a rose, a heart with a flower or a plane to soar through dreams. We can write words upon it, draw a picture or colour it in.

Our life is like a piece of paper – make what you will of it.

Dream Recollection
By Glenda Grande

He invades my dreams in the moonlight
With a cheeky smile, he takes my hand.
His words are few, but within his eyes
A vision of the new world is reflected at me.

He kisses me softly, gently, passionately -
Without fear or doubt about our emotions;
Casting aside all opinions other than our own.
Together in our hearts, we hold a promise
As he takes my hand, intertwining with his.
We begin a new story; a fairytale of our own.

A knight, with a heart nobler than all kings,
Whose love is warm and nurturing like sunlight;
Appearing as mystically enchanting as night
Invades my dreams beneath the starry moonlight.

So goodnight, sweet dreams, and dream again
Of everything I could ever want in a lover, a friend.

The Journey
By Glenda Grande

You, so sweet and naive, can change your heart within a moment.
Like a flower in the wind, so easily swayed by what surrounds you;
You leave yourself exposed, yet hide the important truth within,
Layering those petals to protect the very heart and soul of your being.

Purity of the most innocent kind – your aura reverberates magnificently,
Like an angel who only has the purest intentions at heart, you roam;
In search of the truth and light, and the light within the ultimate truth
You search for love to fulfill your heart, to consume your entire soul;
The ultimate dream of dreamers – romantics in their very essence -
Keep searching until you can grasp your faithful desire with your hands.
I too, walk this same journey as you – in search of something beautiful,
Searching for something that will gratify my heart and soul passionately.

To those who look upon us, they call us idealistic fools and laugh silently -
Call me what you wish. Call us whatever you please. We are the dreamers -
Our talents lie deep within our hearts, minds and souls. We live honestly.
We look towards tomorrow with hope and a smile upon our childish faces
While living each moment to the best of our ability, in laughter and joy
Or in sorrow and pain, let’s treasure each moment, emotion and memory.
For we are who we choose to be. We are the creators of our own destiny.
May the Lord above guide us in the direction needed, but ultimately my dear,
We are the masters of our own fates. Go ahead and take control.

'Come with me and I'll take you on a stroll. Let me reveal the world to you in my perspective'
Lend me your heart, and allow to cast the angelic illusion.'
