Older Priests
By P.F. Daniels
The biggest problem with being the youngest in the order is that all the other priests seem to feel it’s their holy duty to put you in your place. You may know the holy texts better than they know the scrollwork of their vestments or the lines of their own reflections, you might make your own discoveries and bring forward interpretations that no one else has thought of, but you will always be wrong. The other priests will always be there to tell you just where you fouled up, to remind you that you don’t really know anything. That’s what they’re best at.
And sometimes it seems as if that’s the only work they ever do.
