The Chieftain’s Daughter
By Michelle Nefertiti

In our culture, when a woman touches your face, it means that she likes you. When she touches your face and paints a line across the length of your cheek, it means she claims you as her mate. Any man chosen as such by the chieftain’s daughter is granted a great honor.

And yet, when she painted my cheek, I had no idea how to react, because I am not male.

And yet, the daughter of the chieftain has still chosen me as her mate.

For life.
