Host of Angels
By John Ogden

Laithara was no ordinary woman, she was the daughter of a lord, the high magus master of the floating city of K'yaan. Listen to the whispers traded in the darkened corners of cities not so lofty as her father's that trail in her high-stepped gait. She is a warrior. She is noble-born. She is the pilot of the ship of lights that descends each night from the brilliant plains of the moon to the squat darkness of the Earth. Some say she is not human, that she is elven or fae, but I have met her face to face. I have spoken with her, and in the easy talk that comes from a shared bottle, I have learned the truth.

She is a distant relative of our children. She is from a time that has not yet come to pass, and her father leads the expedition that watches over us like a host of guardian angels.

John Ogden was conceived of a government form and a passing mailbox. He lives somewhere out in the woods of a rural land more akin to the fantasy realms of literature than real life, and his favorite dirt bikes will always be the broken ones.
